CBD Oil for Covid 19
Covid-19 or the Novel Coronavirus is one of the worst and longest pandemics to hit the whole world. It brought millions of patients into a severe and acute respiratory illness that affects blood pressure, increased anxiety, respiratory distress syndrome ards, and overall health. Other than that, a hundred thousand patients already died from this deadly Covid-19 virus not only the ordinary Covid-19 patients but especially the health practitioners such as doctors and nurses as they have more exposure. Now, a variety of research and study was conducted aiming to find the best cure for the novel coronavirus or Covid 19. Laboratory tests and phases were conducted to ensure that the potential cures are going to work and safe.
One of the suggested and being studied cures for the novel coronavirus is the cannabidiol CBD. Given that, let us first discuss its potential effects or damage starting with the immune system.
Fight Covid-19 with Cannabis CBD Infused Immune System
Migration of murine macrophages in vivo and vitro is inhibited by cannabis CBD through activation of CB2 in a close and dependent manner. A study of vivo and vitro conducted on human cells and animals suggests that cannabis CBD has anti-inflammatory properties and immunosuppressive with the direct inhibition of T, microglial, and innate cells. It is also possible through the induction of apoptosis of myeloid-derived suppressor cells or regulatory T cells. Compared to other mechanisms, CBD modulation of the immune system is mediated by indirect action on CB1, FAAH regulation, and TRPV1 activation. However, phytocannabinoids administration has revealed experimental models of conflicting results.
During the 1970s, an experimental study was conducted on rodents that show bacterial endotoxins lethality with additive toxicity administered with high dosages of THC. Against that, a study about vitro and animals suggests the presence and information of the bactericidal activity of Cannabis Sativa on certain fungi and gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. Using cannabis for a long time is associated with the progression effect of fibrosis in hepatitis cases.
Arachidonyl-2-chloroethanolamide which is a relatively selective CB1 agonist often leads to hepatitis C viral replica facilitation in vitro hepatocyte cultures with high 2-AG levels and overexpression. In a placebo-controlled trial, double-blind, a 14-week oral treatment using 20 mg per day of CBD for drug-resistant seizures conducted in 120 young adults and children with Dravet syndrome showed a non-significant increase of pyrexia in CBD cannabinoid groups and respiratory tract infections. In another yet the same trial patients that have Dravet syndrome, the CBD group was able to demonstrate pyrexia in 23% of patients than the 17% who had the placebo.
Finally, patients with seizures and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome were tested using an additional 20 mg per day of cannabidiol CBD for 14 weeks. This was later associated with viral infections such as pneumonia. The number was largely contributed by the subjects contaminated with clobazam while no cases came from the placebo group. After all, the assumption regarding the effect of CBD in the immune system was made due to the CBD-clobazam interaction that could promote only broncho and somnolence aspirations and not due to CBD cannabis.
Respiratory Distress Syndrome ARDS and CBD Oil
Based on the new study conducted by scientists, the results have shown that the non-psychoactive cannabinoids of cannabis help to reduce lung damage. This damage was identified as induced by cytokine storm resulted from Covid-19 infection. The good thing here is that CBD oil reduces it by increasing the natural peptide levels.
Scientists from the Medical College of Georgia and the Dental College of Georgia demonstrated the ability of CDB cannabinoid earlier this year in improving oxygen levels, reducing physical lung damage, and reduce inflammation related to ARDS or the Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome. The new studies were able to show that there are mechanisms behind these findings specifically demonstrating the ability of CBD cannabinoid to normalize the peptide or also called apelin levels.
This is well-known to reduce inflammation and once there is Covid-19 infection, these levels are low. While the ARDS research states that peptide has a clear and important role, it still not necessarily means that all of the benefits are attributed to CBD cannabinoid. Reduce inflammation with CBD
Apelin blood levels are considered as important regulators that bring both inflammation and blood pressure down. Potentially, it can reach up to zero levels according to the ARDS model and can be increased 20 times using CBD. The apelin levels also increase and help reduce the pressure when the blood pressure increases. In terms of anti-inflammatory of the lungs and heavy breathing, apelin does the same thing in association with the ARDS model.
Ideally, the ARDS model helps in increasing the blood and oxygen flow in some lung areas that have problems. It also compensates and protects the lungs against any disease or infection such as the current global pandemic- Covid-19. However, as further research was conducted aiming to testify to the claims of ARDS, scientists found out that it does not have any apelin levels to protect the lungs. Instead, it only affected the general circulation of the lungs and decreased the lung tissue amount. Good thing, CBD was administered that changed the findings.
Researchers are stating that the coronavirus and CBD are not yet testified as a direct effect to apelin or it only appears to be the downstream consequences but they are doing their best to find it all out. Researchers are largely claiming that there is an association and the causative is not yet revealed. However, this is already an excellent indicator of the disease.
Furthermore, researchers together with their conduct research and study are having findings of the dramatic decrease of apelin levels when faced with ARDS. This then makes the levels of protective peptide become a potential biomarker for ARDS and treatment efforts’ response.
The Covid-19 disease enters the human cell through the pervasive angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 or also called the ACE2 receptor. This has a lot of common ground between the apelin and ACE2 that includes the types of cells and lung tissue.
Another thing, the virus can enter the human body and cells by ACE2 but this time, it has an association with the controlled blood pressure and immune response that once regulated at the same time can result in different cardiovascular diseases such as heart failure, increased blood pressure, increased heart rate, lung failure, lung system inflammation, and other lungs diseases.
It was observed that the virus is upsetting the positive partnership and its ability to bind to the ACE2 receptor. This interpreted the significantly reduced ACE2 levels and an increase in the blood vessel constrictor angiotensin II levels. This is because when there are fewer levels of angiotensin II and gets degraded and few vasodilators, it worsens or produces the prognosis of one patient.
Thus, instead of helping the blood levels of a patient to relax, it helps the virus to arrive into the host which is used to spread the coronavirus. ACE2 then does not help in relaxing the lungs and allowing it to do its job.
Agonist Natural Apelin: Treatment with CBD Cannabidiol
Scientists are working non-stop in laboratory tests, studies, and research just to understand the nature of the virus and the interaction of it with apelin and CBD cannabidiol. The studies also include answering why apelin decreases when faced with the virus yet being brought up by the CBD or cannabinoids as the results.
With that, scientists and other researchers are exploring why and how the elimination of apelin affects the ARDS and the results if CBD may have produced the same benefit or inflammation to the lungs first without apelin. A lot of experts are quoting that this is because the suppression of virus against CBD or cannabinoids and apelin interfered with the process. However, it can also be doubted whether the interaction of apelin and CBD or cannabinoids may be the only way to make the compound work and even other scenarios.
For these studies to be carried out, researchers developed a relatively expensive and safe model of ARDS. This was made possible by providing the POLY with a synthetic analog. Besides, the coronavirus or Covid-19 was observed to have a double-stranded RNA model while it is only a single-stranded model on human DNA. The model later produced a similar response to the virus that includes an extreme cytokine storm and lung damage. This was a reflection on how could an immune response in the lungs cytokine storm and lung damage.
For the studies, intranasal saline for three days was received by a control group of medical researchers while it is POLY for the Covid-19 intranasally. Also, there was a third group called the treatment group aside from the control group that received related POLY and CBD at the same point. With that, significantly reduced apelin levels were seen in the mice that are able to develop the symptoms of the coronavirus as the high response. This was then compared to the controls and cannabis CBD treatment that could normalize the apelin levels and immune response together with swelling lungs, scarring lungs, risked health, and oxygen levels.
Thus, they concluded that the study for treatment with CBD may be the natural apelin agonist compared to controls. The global Covid-19 pandemic may not yet find a profound and safe vaccine aside from cannabis CBD yet the researchers are working hard to do clinical and medical research to find one or any information about Covid-19. Besides, CBD or cannabis could need more clinical and medical tests to ensure its safety when related or treating Covid-19. If this will be upheld first, then there will be greater chances to prove that CBD or cannabis may be the treatment or at least remove inflammation brought by Covid-19.
We are just hoping now that may all will be well this December 2020. If the whole world will work together, then we may save more Covid-19 patients from the risk of death. Now, we all need to calm down and wait for studies or single research to be compatible with a Covid-19 cure. Let us hope that it is the CBD that could help us all from Covid-19 high damage compared to controls.
